I'm Lydia, and this is my little neck of the woods where I write about the things that matter the very most to me.  My husband Jason and I have been married for 12 years and together we are parents to 7 little ones ranging from baby to preteen. My first was born when I was just nineteen years old.  The days have been rather full ever since.

I was baptised into the Lutheran faith (LCMS) when I was 5 years old. My husband joined our church a few years back. We occupy the same pew as my parents and Grandmother and try to keep it down to a dull roar so others can hear the service.

My family and I make our home in South Eastern Michigan in the little town where I grew up.  In a 1200 square foot gray house with a large, unkempt back yard that backs up to my childhood home, we live out our days together.  We homeschool our children for now and strive to prayerfully consider the educational journey of each one as we go along.  We are committed to frugal living and do our very best to live a simple and intentional life.

Family is hugely important to me. I am one of seven children and most of my siblings live close by. We gather on Sundays for dinner and those are some of the most precious times to me. Nothing makes me happier than my younger brother swinging in for a cup of coffee halfway through the day, my niece settling right in with my own kids. As homeschool graduates ourselves, I can see how this lifestyle has had lasting effects on the closeness of our relationships with each other, and that's a gift I hope to pass on to my own children.

I'm an incurable optimist, I love people of all sorts and I know we'd be friends. Laughing is my favorite, but I'm also partial to long heart to hearts over coffee (or wine!). If you lived nearby, I hope you'd swing by for a front row seat to my chaos. I love music and movies of every genre and have a soft spot for human interest stories of triumph and faith.

I am a very amateur photographer and am just beginning to figure out how to move beyond the automatic mode on my Canon Rebel XTi.  I really don't know what I'm doing, but slowly but surely I am learning! I learned the basics of sewing and knitting from my Grandma at a young age and have expanded my knowledge of each art form in the past few years.  I love sharing the projects that I am working on, both here and on my ravelry page.

I am blessed and honored to meet you and connect our worlds together.  Let's be friends, yes?  Please click "subscribe" to hear from me regularly.  I can also be found on Twitter here, or on Facebook here.
